  • I was using multiple indicators, and now I'm feeling like I can get away with just price action (candlestick patterns and volume) on 1 minute futures.
  • Sometimes I make 5 times more in same time period in replay trading post the live one, mainly because I find it hard to be patient to let the winners run, or cut losses too early (despite backtests showing .25% being almost perfect 1:1 RR for this strat)
  • Or should I simply be a bot and put my TP/SL and walk away for couple minutes?

  • Herp...sorry for the late reply but I've been mulling on your answer and even tried working with chatgtp to help me understand...I simply cannot come up with a trade structure using 0DTE on SPX (using bear credit spreads in my analysis) to equal a 1:1 RR.
  • For example, tomorrow (Dec 23) 5915/5920 has a net credit of $85, but a max loss of $415 (a 1:3.5. ratio).
  • What contracts structures are you looking at that can produce a 1:1 RR?

  • Sometime the 5 minute can tell when a trend is beginning to ebb out, and you might have a change from market going higher to starting to go down.
  • and actually gets me a good chance to move the stop loss.
  • but yes but im talking 15 points on average in a month, so thats counting the losers and counting bad months and bad enviroments.
  • the truth is that risking 1% you will grow fast even with 10-15 net profitable points / day.

  • Imagine that the 50% strategy either goes up to 2R or it goes no higher than 0.3R then hits your stop loss.
  • Closing all winners at 0.5R would make no difference to the win rate.

  • I enter mostly on retracements after trend breakouts and risk off the previous low/high.
  • Since MNQ is so volatile, my stops are usually around 40-60 ticks so I almost need that profit to offset.
  • I have around a 45-50% WR and have settled around 1:2 RR just because i have some big runners around 300-500 ticks some days.

  • I've heard slippage makes scalping tough in the real world.
  • Yeah what you're saying makes a lot of sense, I've been trading ES mostly with a 2-10 points RR (so I guess like 8-40 ticks).
  • I find that works well if my entry is good but the last few days I've had 3-4 losing trades before a winner comes in and earns the paper losses back plus my daily profit.
  • Working on not being stupid taking more trades than necessary lol.

The Faster You Go the Longer it Will Take 13 0.9667 Daytrading

Slow and steady for the win...I hope. I am far from profitable, but the last week has made me realiz...

  • I feel like I have way more time to check support and resistance levels, understand if a ticker is trending or ranging, and review the fundamentals of day trading, all without feeling rushed or pressured.
  • This also means I have completely moved away from small cap penny stocks for trading, allowing me to set looser stops and feel more confident with where I think the price is going to go.
  • This allows me to stay in a losing position on a stock that has good fundamentals.
  • If it has good fundamentals and it is trending, the odds of reaching break even or turning a profit are way higher than if I am momentum trading pump and dumps, where holding a loser will almost always hit hard.
  • I feel confident this will lead to higher win rates.

  • If you have absolutely no way of checking the charts during work hours, then swing trading will be the best option.

  • And the one time that it doesn't while your position is too big for your comfort, it's gonna hurt.
  • And when it hurts to take the loss, you're going to hold hoping it turns around, and sometimes it will...but sometimes it won't.
  • A trader's greatest skill is to be able to take a loss and feel no pain.
  • Idgaf if I lose a single dollar on PEPE, and I will have no trouble telling my wife im skipping ice cream bc I bought in on a trolling frog lolll.
  • Good trading is making good entries, picking good targets, and picking good stop losses, and then managing the risk (that every trade can be a loser) by making sure your RR is healthy, the relationship between RR and WR is healthy, and sizing your positions so that if the trade hits your SL, the amount you lose is no more than 2% of your trading account.
I quit trading for now as im not in a good financial position . here's what i did wrong 3 0.9065 Trading

My rule is. Anytime I want to trade. I do one equation. Simple Multiplication Trade value X 50 = ...

  • Trade value X 50 = (greater/lesser value than total account)
  • If greater than : a basic lazy 1:1RR with support and resistance will not work and you'll have to tap into a more efficient uneven RR with supply and demand which is way more mentally draining than the former.
  • What's the size trade that's ideal to you?
  • Don't trade until you have 5000 as 9-5 income has higher compounding than your trading right now.
  • Replace $100 with your own, value and plan round two one year from now.

  • usually people say that because they are jealous of the returns being posted, but also, usually it's by some naive beginner trader who overleveraged to the teeth and made out on it a few times, and just attributed it to "being bullish" or that they "just go long on pullbacks."
  • Not a real strategy.
  • Those people won't last, and they for sure won't know when bullish times are over until they've fucked themselves into oblivion trying to long every pullback and find themselves with a position that's gone 12:1 RR against them after DCA'ing 10 times.
