  • Even when Pfizer 'won' the Covid vaccine race it barely got much of a premium and soon viciously sold off.
  • But then GLP-1 took LLY off to the races with some breathtaking multiple expansion (reflecting earnings increases to come, of course).
  • [Someone on Twitter](https://twitter.com/DividendGrowth/status/1767731475380687184) pointed out: "Fifteen years ago you could have bought Eli Lilly $LLY at a 6% Dividend Yield and a Forward P/E of 8."
  • Each of these companies engage in massive amounts of R&D and it's a total guess which ones make it past regulatory approval across the world and have high efficacy and lasting patent power.

Victory for Eli Lilly (LLY) as the FDA begins shutdown of competing pharmacies selling their powerhouse weight-loss drug. 2024-12-20T00:52:02+00:00 3 stocks
  • It makes little sense to me why HIMS was down over 8% when their compounded drug is still technically flowing, but LLY is still stagnate (for now) with this fantastic news their compounding competition has to cease.
  • HIMS and Wegovy/Ozempic are still sexy namebrands the market recognizes.
  • Plus, for all we know the FDA won't go after Semaglutide for a couple months (new administration).
  • I'm not very experienced though.
  • I'm confident in LLY but not the inverse.

Eli Lilly (LLY) or Novo Nordisk (NVO)? 2024-12-17T06:00:40+00:00 2 stocks
  • Even if Mounjaro and Zepbound are better than Wegovy and Ozempic, I think NVO will be fine.
  • For now, I'm dollar cost averaging into both companies at a 90/10 NVO to LLY ratio.
  • The company overall has such an impressive balance sheet and performs so well financially in every aspect.
  • I don't suspect the growth will stop if LLY's new round of medication is better.
  • I think the growth will slow, but NVO will get back on track and make a better drug in the near future.

  • I don't think anyone has answered the question - what company is firmly established, a well known brand that is doing great, making tons of dough - like AAPL in 2010, when it was trading at a P/E of SEVEN, and has gone up 100x or so since then.
  • RKLB or ASTS may 100x in 10 years - but they're still tiny companies not making money yet.

  • Went grocery shopping yesterday at Meijer.
  • Noticed a ton of fake "sale prices" where the cost of the "sale" price was still more than a few months ago.
  • Anyways the real point of this story was that I noticed the alarming amount of very overweight people and I'm very confidently buying more LLY at open tomorrow.

Bought 150k of rivian, a failing ev company with an amazing vehicle 2024-10-13T15:26:55+00:00 2 wallstreetbets
  • I would however rethink the stop or it is possible you will auto sell at the low point and watch the stock rebound.
  • A few months ago, the S&P dropped near 1000 points and right back up in a day, and I auto-sold my holdings of 3 stocks, MSFT, SHOP, and LLY on the dip, only to realize they were sold later after they all shot past their original drop point.
  • I personally think you are making a great call, as long as you can be patient and don't expect to cash out in a few months.
  • You want to stay in the rally on a quick dip like that, so if you believe in the company, I'd abide against the stop.
  • I agree the Rivian vehicles are kick ass, and the tailspin Elon is in is a good thing long term for Rivian prospects, especially in California and wherever else Elons politics are toxic.

What is your top non Tech stock for growth and returns for the next five years? 2024-06-26T17:50:07+00:00 42 stocks
  • I don't know that there is a growth story that is underappreciated at this point and as a result I've been looking at quality slow growth/value names recently.
  • I've owned LLY for a couple of years now and there was incessant negativity about the obesity drug theme, but not so much with it nearing $1k a share.
  • The industrial/utility AI beneficiary trade got overdone imo (CEG, EME, PWR, VST, etc) and maybe they still do well over the next 5 years but I think you have to hope for a best case scenario.

Investing in AI with a 10-20 year horizon. 2024-11-26T13:45:49+00:00 11 investing
  • In my opinion, the generational winners will be companies with the largest datasets will prevail - GOOG=BIDU > APPL> AMZN=BABA > MSFT=META but there will also be industry specific players (like healthcare, i.e., drug discovery , possibly UNH or research hospital like MSK or Duke Univ), defense maybe PLTR, travel = BKNG, retail (specifically grocery) - any large chains with loyalty programs (they know a lot about you and your preference) or TSLA has more driving data, particularly for autonomous driving AI.
  • I would also not rule out Bloomberg as they have immense financial data sets and how companies interrelate.
  • MSFT except for OFFICE has been a follower or acquirer; they were way behind on AI and is the reason they partnered with OpenAI and did better PR.
  • I also suspect that APPL (I know they partner with OpenAI for the consumer front, but believe they have internal products) and AMZN have better AI tech as it is captive and will never be in the open market for competitive reasons.
  • If you can shorten drug discovery time and extend protection - it is a big win.

  • VKTX is supposedly releasing Phase 1 oral results and Phase 2 injectable results during Obesity Week (November 4th-8th), so could be worth watching, and HIMS intrigues me in general as someone who will benefit from selling Ozempic-likes rather than someone who develops them.
  • I feel like I've missed the boat on this field of pharma, but at the same time I know that sometimes these things have a way of running way up.
  • I'd say NVO and LLY are no-brainer picks, but they've each had a run-up already, and I know the addressable market is massive (especially if they find these drugs are good for cancers, aging, alzheimers, etc.
  • On a purely anecdotal note I have multiple family members trying / using Ozempic, and I know others that *would* if they knew it would help / could get some cheaper - so the potential of it remains un-met in my view.
  • ), but from what I understand there's going to be some patent expiry sometime soon and I'm not sure how that will effect either company?

NVO price action is concerning 2024-12-21T00:55:23+00:00 13 stocks
  • Reason: The drug test proved 22% weight reduction success while market is expecting 25%.
  • Don't you think it is silly issue as NVO can capture the market with price competitiveness.
  • Do not see price action, if you invest these companies, just buy them when they are crashed like today.
  • Any way, any drop in price, in good companies, are opportunity to buy more.
  • In fact, I purchased pre-market and market hours NVOX (2x of NVO) as I expect them to recover.

  • It is until it isn't; it's great when the theme in question is big but the moment others start to become competitive and/or trials start disappointing, the name is going lower.
  • There is already discussion of the next generation of obesity drugs and NVO's CB-1 drug didn't have great results the other week in terms of side effects/AE: https://www.fiercebiotech.com/biotech/novos-obesity-drug-linked-mild-moderate-neuropsychiatric-side-effects-phase-2.
