  • this assume a 100% WR of 1% gain throughout the trading period of 2 years if you actually have a way of guaranteeing this, why even stop a 1%?
  • It makes more sense for example to assume monthly profits as an aggregate while taking into account the strategy win % , risk taken and RR ratio making the estimation more realistic.
  • However, yes money compounds and you manage to secure consistent(not necessarily 100%) %gains without withdrawing money you'll end up with a nice exponential capital curve.
  • fun fact, recovering 1% after losing 1% doesn't put you back at break even \^\^.
  • Let that sink in and you'll see whythat projection is not realistic.

  • That's awesome to hear and good that you're starting with paper.
  • I enter mostly on retracements after trend breakouts and risk off the previous low/high.
  • Since MNQ is so volatile, my stops are usually around 40-60 ticks so I almost need that profit to offset.
  • I have around a 45-50% WR and have settled around 1:2 RR just because i have some big runners around 300-500 ticks some days.
  • With my salaried job around 72k a year + trading i'm on track to clear 100k, never thought it'd be possible

  • If greater than : a basic lazy 1:1RR with support and resistance will not work and you'll have to tap into a more efficient uneven RR with supply and demand which is way more mentally draining than the former.

  • Don't trade until you have 5000 as 9-5 income has higher compounding than your trading right now.

  • I've been in a trade since Friday with a 1:4 RR and expect to hit my target by the end of today or midday tomorrow.
  • For each trade, I risk just $10, which gives me 10 chances before my capital runs out.
  • My win rate is a solid 80%--sounds high, but it's accurate.

  • I wanted to scalp with this setup, but I realized that the lower time frames generally stay less true to the trend than the higher ones.
  • I switched to swing trading and just started for real this week after about 6 months of studying and practice.
  • I've entered RXRX earlier today and it looks like a great entry.

  • Sometimes I'll hit daily TP and shut down within the first 10 minutes.
  • My stop loss is placed as a worst case scenario, usually manually close trades if it isn't going my way right away.

  • Id say 2:1, but usually end the week around 80%+ win rate.

Do you have to be good at math to trade stocks? 2024-11-30T21:08:42+00:00 2 Trading
  • Fxcalculator .com works, lots are basically the amount of money your willing to risk, so if your risking 250 you would have to decide where to put your stop loss of -250 and your target which is 250 or 500 or 750 or more obviously a 1:2 to 1:3 RR is reasonable, so you kinda do need math when calculating stop loss, but you could always use a paper account to simulate your trade right before you enter on a actual live account.

  • Britain is a very windy island with Scotland covered in windfarms, gas powered generation to fill in the gaps, and (without a doubt) Rolls Royce winning the SMR contract.
  • The RR reactor has double the output of its competitors, and that has the advantage that its larger core needs lower-enriched fuel.

Archer aviation really a big deal? 2024-12-14T07:35:01+00:00 2 wallstreetbets
  • But all this innovation is likely worth something to someone, so as long as money is going into the company to fund this r&d, it remains a good growth prospect
  • People see their demo videos and think it's all looking great, but ultimately their use case is not different to helicopters.
  • They just make less noise, but as a result they are more expensive and bulkier than helicopters, need to be charged between uses, need the take-off landing infrastructure, will have high maintenance costs and be subject to the same air traffic rules as helicopters all of which making it likely a luxury transport option.
  • Evtols may not materialise into a market beyond being fancy showpieces for big corps, but developing them demands innovation in many areas.
  • Joby for example has developed a fast charging system that they say is going to be available for anyone to use for free in an effort to help the overall evtol market.
Why is Rolls Royce up 700% in 2 years? 2024-12-12T23:56:31+00:00 2 wallstreetbets
  • RR are in a unique position as they have been making much smaller reactors for many decades for submarines so they are well ahead of new companies trying to start up in this market with a long track record of success.
  • I has a price point of PS10 and could go higher if/when they reintroduce a dividend
  • They got in some bad situations with recalls on engines that were very expensive.
  • A lot of their income comes from servicing engines so when all flights were grounded- no flight hours their income tanked and everything kind of came to a head at once.
  • They have had a long period of R+D with products that are now ready to go to market, the one people are talking about is the nuclear small modular reactors- they are ready to go but need customers- the UK government are dragging out a previous commitment.

What was the turning point in your trading? - When did you start becoming consistently profitable? What did you have to change to achieve this kind of profitability? 2024-10-02T08:33:27+00:00 6 Trading
  • I quickly became profitable when I stopped trusting trading gurus and generally other people.
  • Trading gurus spread misinformation because they hope that you will pay for their courses and trusting them is really counterproductive because in the end you will just waste time trying to copy concepts from a, most likely, unprofitable trader.
  • Unprofitable traders however have a very good reason because they need to make money somehow.
  • Some of them do so with good intentions and because they truly believe in the concepts and they want to help but in the end it's absolutely no help to take advice from someone who isn't profitable themselves.
  • Test things that are supposed to make money, test things that are supposed to lose money, test trading with the trend, test trading against the trend, try trades with great RR and trades with horrible RR.. you get the idea .. just be unbiased and see what really works.
Being in the market 25 years. 2024-09-09T12:01:22+00:00 6 Daytrading
  • The strategy is no good, if you risk 1% and you have a simple technique that wins with only a 3:1 RR - statistics will be in your favour.
  • This is a tricky one as initially I had no strategy.
  • It took a few wins and losses to figure out why things don't always work.
  • Once I narrowed this down, it then took a while to form a strategy for the two or three instruments I was interested in.
  • If you blow up accounts like that, it's just risk management.
How to not get cold feet 2024-08-22T15:48:32+00:00 6 Daytrading
  • Then you can get an idea on what you could potentially adjust it to for the future if you notice you are mostly undershooting.
  • You could also exit trades based on market structure breaks on lower timeframes.
  • Something else people do is take partial profit and let the rest run deeper, lots of things for you to look into and test.
