  • Now math says you would have maximized profit by selling at each near term peak, and buy at the bottom of every near term dip and repeating this sequence over the handful, dozen or dozens of times the chart has shown this pattern.
  • The math also says your percent chance of success of being right each and every time is close to zero.
  • Looking at VOO, start at $390 and end at $670 (not the mention the distributions) for that 5 year stetch, I'll take it without the worry.
  • Also today is very different than dot com era because many companies back then had high valuation with little relative revenue or profit to show for it - and that's why they crashed.

  • Their skipping the massive costs of hyperscalers and only modestly investing in data centers.
  • They know they control where AI is consumed (on their devices) they do not need to go the same routes as others.
  • They are however investing in the Neural Engine on their phones and devices to process whatever they need.
  • instead of massive data centers, everyones phones and devices do shares of the work

  • Adding QQQM, SPMO, and VGT on top of that gives you massive overlap -- basically your whole portfolio is US large-cap growth.
  • Swapping QQQM for AVUV (small-cap value) and VXUS (international) would actually diversify you.
  • AVUV gives you exposure to smaller companies that are historically cheaper and have higher expected returns (the Fama-French value premium).
  • For the remaining "growth" allocation, VGT already covers tech.
  • You could drop SPMO as well (it's momentum factor, which overlaps with growth) and just hold VOO + VGT for US, then add AVUV + VXUS for diversification.

Am I crazy or is there underappreciated risk of AAPL re-rating significantly downward? 8 0.946 stocks

AAPL has decided to sit out the insanity of the AI battles until the tech is more proven and figured...

  • Apple has never chased the cutting edge, they wait for tech to prove out a bit then take a crack at it.
  • Obviously they're not perfect (Vision Pro) but also the first version of a lot of their products have taken a couple versions moment to catch on, and they've probably got a fat margin on the Vision Pro anyway.
  • Honestly I think MSFT, AAPL, AMZN, GOOG are all solid holds right now.
  • MSFT is the most questionable, but they've got a lot of strength in the cloud and AI could benefit that.
  • AMZN and GOOG both have STRONG internal plays for AI that doesn't require anything outside their internal capex, so even if the bubble pops, I think they've got a road to profitability with their AI directly; Amazon with logistical robotics and delivery, Google with Waymo and Android.

  • TSLA's valuation still prices in a robotics/AI/autonomy dream scenario that keeps getting pushed out.
  • AAPL at 30x+ earnings with single-digit revenue growth is priced for perfection -- services revenue is growing but hardware replacement cycles are lengthening.
  • GOOGL and MSFT look the most reasonably priced on forward earnings.
  • AMZN's AWS margins keep expanding so the multiple has support.
  • NVDA's forward P/E is actually dropping as earnings catch up -- depends on whether you think AI capex sustains.

  • I bought a bunch of Apple in 2005 just because I liked their products and thought the 'Wintel has won' narrative was overblown.
  • Then, around 2012 I thought to myself, 'will silicon be less or more important in the future?'
  • I knew the answer, so I bought a bunch of Lam Research and a bunch of Micron Technology.
  • I bought other things too, but the MU is now a 71 bagger, the LRCX is an 87 bagger and the AAPL is a 250 bagger.
