- There are refresh cycles, but most business and people use the same computers for 4+ years before upgrading them.
- Could we have imagined back then that we'd all be walking around with supercomputers in our pocket delivering all sorts of applications and that "social media" would become an integrated part of our lives?
- NVDA has a monopoly on the chips and software to train huge AI models.
- This will inevitably change, just like it did for CSCO, but for now, NVDA is the only game in town.

- Micron is a great company - it has a bright future and it will make investors good money in the long run.
- It's also a crappy choice if you're going to invest in only a couple semiconductor companies.
- Micron - and other memory producers - are pretty much the most deeply cyclical of all semiconductors.
- While you can expect cyclicality across the semi space, the highs and lows of companies like MU are enormous - and you actually do need to time the market to make good money on them.
- For me, AVGO and NVDA are the two I've chosen - I'm confident they have as much room to run as MU with far less downside risk.

- Nvidia has a super strong position but their own customers are working hard to replace them.
- I mean, the SMH is probably the safest bet, you're likely right, but MU has something going for it in that its chips are always relevant, its boom and bust nature make the booms explosive and rewarding if you buy significant dips which happen frequently, and its part of an oligopoly with not much risk of losing much share while also being favored by the US govt.

- Point I'm trying ot make is saying INTC is a bad investment isn't necessarily saying the company is crashing and burning and is worthless.
- Now you have to ask yourself, do you want to gamble that INTC could have a little run-up based on valuation, but they have no track record of sustaining the capital appreication?
- If I'm not mistaken, INTC has jumped from $18-20 to $22-24 range multiple times in the past few months.
- I'll hold the solid stocks long term and let them grow my wealth for me.

- Beyond that, there was the trade late last year until around March where people were clearly hoping that AMD would catch up to some meaningful degree to NVDA.
- Short-term could certainly bounce especially towards the end of month and early next year, but beyond that people are going to go, "Why don't I just own NVDA or AVGO?"
