Are daytraders still profitable in today's economy?

Yeah. I trade BB reversions on ES and BTC on the 30min. When price closes outside the bands, I draw a fib from the high to the low of that candle. If price reverts back to the 0.618 level of that candle, that's my entry, with my stop at the candle's low. If there's a further close outside the bands before I get filled, that new candle becomes my fib reference and I take the 0.618 off that one instead, as long as the following candle still closes outside the bands. 2 losses max per day. VIX needs to be above 18 (this threshold shifts year to year, but I'm basically checking based off the major S/R level on the VIX daily). Longs only above the 200SMA, shorts only below. On both assets I use the 20/2 BB and the 30/2 BB Hope that makes sense!

- But that couldn't happen if you understand price action , fundamentals, BB , EMA, vwap, and order flow and be careful of spoofing those banks owns the market.

- A banker this AM paid for an interview on BB to pump private credit, you know those ones they do like at 7:55?
- As private credit sees significant capital flight and/or real interest rates rise, the assumptions on which these earnings are based are may change.
- The whole financial sector has more exposure to this stuff than people realize.
- Community banks could step into the void but their risk tolerance will not be the same as the current players.
- Big change in assumptions when you suddenly need $$ from highly regulated banks.

Bollinger Bands are genuinely useful as a volatility and structure tool, but 'price always gets back...
- In strong trending markets that reversion logic fails more than it should.
- I ran BB mean reversion signals across 200+ US equities over 3 years and the raw win rate was around 57%, which sounds ok until you filter out the trending periods, which got it to 67%.
- The indicator isn't the edge, the context filter around when to apply it is.
