What is the optimist case for Tesla anymore?
Posted 2026-05-19T19:16:26, updated 2026-05-20T20:19:25 21 0.902 stocks

TSLA valuation has never seemed connected with financials in a reasonable way to me, but you should also consider that this forum has been wildly wrong about a lot of stocks. I remember when they said Zuck was sinking META in 2022, lol. You aren't really going to get good answers here. I think people will just be lazy and say it's a "cult" or some shit. I think the actual dominant bull theses involve an explosion of their margins due to their incredible trove of data they have for self driving. Like, a global robotaxi network if they actually crack safe FSD first would be very profitable (maybe). Optimus is another bull thesis I hear sometimes, but I think it's really a stretch. They're not the only company working on robotics and I don't see a reason to think they'll be the first ones to get mass produced robots in every household. But if they do, they certainly could be worth a lot of money

  • Thing is - those investments going not because tech is already here, but because it "expected to arrive" one day(tm).
  • Layoffs are normal thing, especially given META recent abandonment of some direction, but when you pepper word "AI" to it - it's good press to boost stock even more.
  • Right now it model of perpetual circlejerk investments puffing up market like there no tommorow, in hope that agents tech eventually gonna live up to expectations.
  • Goalposts in last 4 years quietly moved from "AGI next year"(Hi, Sam) to "Maybe agents can cover some capacities under futher supervision of human specialist".

  • Homie - do you think that META, with their constant signed in across multiple devices user base hasn't already deployed he best LLM and Algorithms they can possibly come up with into their Ad logic?
  • Meta has the least to gain in AI development from An ad perspective because what will be possible is already nearly possible.
  • They have trillions of points of data on you and everyone in their universe who looks and acts like you.
  • If AI was going to fundamentally change and heavily increase their ad approach, it would have already happened.
  • And they'll get upset about that, and as the Meta user base gets older and less in touch with the youth, advertisers will diversify.

  • NBIS, NVDA, AMSC, META, MSFT, GOOGL, FSLR, IBM, NXT, and ENLT were the top 10 on profit margin.

  • It sucks to sell the ones that made you money but at least pare down a little in tech and just grab a few good names.
  • I am long BTSG because of the aging population and also have some lower beta stuff but I'm 46 so where you're at you have some wiggle room.
  • Maybe ICOP, UFO for space exposure purposes but it also has some diversification into other industries.

  • Marketplace has a massive userbase, but generates minimal revenue since there are no commissions or fees from transactions.
  • META could easily challenge eBay, PayPal, Block, Shopify, Wix etc by simply improving Marketplace.
  • It's absurd that in 2026 cash transactions are still the primary way of doing sales on Marketplace given how many people buy stuff online with payment processors now.
