  • Semiconductors are extremely overbought.
  • Money looks to be moving in to financials like JPM.
  • For the past week the mornings have seemed strong then putter out by close.
  • Also you have more red than green in the SPY and QQQ which reminds me of the previous corrections like we saw in November.
  • Protect your cash because if it does go down you will have excellent buying opportunities.

  • You're essentially betting against a known, time-stamped wall of forced buying in a stock with almost no available supply -- and the options market just opened today, so you're paying for that uncertainty too.
  • The QQQ hedge inverts during inclusion; it absorbs selling pressure, not gains alongside SPCX.
  • If the fundamental short thesis is real, it doesn't go away -- but it gets a lot cleaner once the mechanical bid clears and the float starts opening up.

  • My thoughts would be to have elderly clients invested in a mix of index funds and bond funds and should lean towards lower risk.
  • He has them in AAPL, MSFT, PANW, and PLTR along with a couple others that seem more reasonable (such as HD and COST).
  • He then has a large position in QQQ, a smaller amount to SPY and VDE and then about half of the portfolio is in a mix of mutual funds that I do not know anything about.
  • How crazy is it to have a large percentage of tech stocks for someone past retirement age?
  • Would I be correct to assume this individual is charging a fee to "manage" the funds and then putting half (actually more like 70% if you count the etfs) in mutual funds that then charge another management fee to do the actual investing for him?

  • Most 401k providers default to a target date fund.

  • I bought more in Dec 2022 and have't looked back.
  • But it can be a roadmap for anyone to deal with dramatic downturns.
  • I'd just recommend selling the leveraged etfs once you've recovered if you can't sleep at night taking that much risk (SOXL was another great one bought during the tariff tumult surrounding liberation day, currently up 14x)

  • If I were doing nothing but indexes, buy-and-forget, I'd do a mix of QQQ (tech heavy but good if there is no AI bubble), VOO, VXUS (exclude the US) and IXJ (healthcare).
  • If you are scared about the idea of buying at the top and perhaps your stock losing value for years before it recovers, then just buy in a bit every month - say $1000 a month.
  • After the $7000 is all invested, you can set a goal of say $200 a month, which you can increase later when you have a job.

  • They do vehicle locational tracking for like stolen cars, growing a bit more in the US, but mainly ex-us markets.
  • Subscriptions continue to grow, so they have stable FCF growth and the company has no debt.
  • They make so much money that they did a special dividend last quarter and the thing doesn't have expensive fundamentals by any means.
  • It's smaller than a common stock people by for dividends, but the thing has better asset performance than the SPY or QQQ.

  • NASDAQ literally rewrote the rulebook so $SPCX skips the line -- added day 15 (\~July 1), no profits required, smooth-brain easy.
  • \~$600B in robots MUST buy a teacup of stock and dump AAPL/MSFT/NVDA to pay for it.
  • The catch: every hedgie already knows, the float un-locks in 366 days (bagholder alarm clock ), and the real whale -- S&P 500 -- won't touch it till 2027 because SpaceX lost $4.9B and "earnings" are apparently still a thing.

  • On the broker question: Robinhood is fine honestly, especially with the 3% Roth IRA match.
  • Fidelity and Schwab are the other popular picks -- better research tools, more reliable customer service, and no PFOF concerns.
  • On your strategy: You said growth + dividends and "a bit risky" -- those kind of pull in different directions, so here's how I'd think about it at 20:
  • Build a portfolio of solid dividend payers (think SCHD for an ETF, or individual names like O, KO, JNJ, ABBV if you want to pick stocks).
  • * "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham (the classic) * On YouTube: Joseph Carlson has great content on dividend portfolio building, very practical * r/dividends is a solid sub for that specific strategy

How much better is interactive brokers than Schwab? 3 0.9632 Daytrading

Buy 0DTE at levels that I determine to be important for that day. This is done usually by look...

  • This is done usually by looking left on the daily chart and spending a few minutes looking at volume and price action at those levels, as well as how well the trade is protected (other support & resistance close by) which is what I usually base my stops on.
  • I then wait until price starts moving into those levels and begin to size in - this happens quite rapidly and usually within 10 minutes of the market open.
  • But premium gets wacky on days like the last few, driven by IV pushing up because of the huge drop last Friday.
  • If you are new or not profitable, start with 1 contract and log a good amount of wins with that, grind your way up and pad your account with cash if you can prove consistency.
  • This is a style I've worked on for a very long time because I didn't want to live my life glued to charts or caring about news.

  • a lot of it was triggered by AVGO's earnings - but picking into them the AI related numbers were great and the let down was from the software side of their business.
  • if you do any type of technical analysis, the RSIs of many of these companys - even QQQ - were through the roof and just itching for a reason to pull back.
