Where should I park emergency fund cash (that isn't in T-bills)?

I'm looking for something similar. Have you considered SGOV and if so, how does it compare? The state tax break is a bonus to take into consideration.

  • Treasuries are the stronger leg of this plan, given your timeline and the absence of state income tax.
  • Keep the HYSA for true same-day emergencies only, since the Treasury portion needs a day or two to settle.
  • One refinement: consider staggering the ladder rungs at three, six, and nine months so a maturity lands near your earliest possible closing date.

  • Unfortunately, this accounts for just 0.1 per cent of investors - the lucky few.
  • Those who put everything into SPY or a global ETF have outperformed 90 per cent of the other investors who tried to beat the markets.
  • My biggest regret is that if I'd put everything into SGOV, I'd be much wealthier today...
  • The proof of this is that today everyone ; absolutely everyone ; is talking about nothing but Intel, AMD, NVDA or TSLA.

  • 45k in three rungs for a purchase that your own post says might move by a year is a lot of rollover admin for a rounding error in yield.

  • Everything else goes to emergency fund, would be in SGOV or HYSA, which I can transfer the same day and have access the next.

  • Maybe if you could somehow get a decent rate though.
  • One part of riding through leverage is holding through big drawdowns which might not be possible if you get margin called.
  • If you need the actual money then don't invest it - keep it in SGOV or an HYSA or something.
  • You invest what you can afford to lose and store away for like five years minimum.

To those who lose tens of thousands.... Or hundreds of thousands... 4 0.9106 wallstreetbets

Well, I have been investing in the market for the last 23 yrs. I have been aggressive the last 3 yrs...

  • I got in early on tech giants like Amd, Alab, Anet, Arm, Avgo, Apld, NVDA, Mrvl, MU, Docn, Intc, Pltr, Smci, Spcx, Rklb, TSM, STX, VRT, GLW.
  • Today, I crossed over 1.1 million and decided to sell everything but 200 shares of Nvda.
  • The rest is sitting in SGOV earning me 3,100 monthly in divvys until my retirement in 2 yrs.
  • It has been one hell of a roller coaster ride with all the big ups/ downs.
  • Don't fall in love with any particular stock, take profits, re invest in something wks with upside potential.

Does anyone else feel that we're heading towards a financial crisis? 1 0.559 investing

We are always heading to a crisis. It's the nature of the fear/greed cycle. The trick is the timing....

  • Retail investors need to worry less acout the macro and more about their risk tolerance and cash flow needs.
  • Personally, I am on a glide path to retirement and have been selling riskier assets and building a bond tent for my critical SORR years.
  • You've basically won if you havd stocks invested since the GR, depending on your mix.
  • I've also been building international funds since I have been heavy big teach my entire life (work in IT so it's what I know).
  • VXUS, SGOV is where I'm deploying new money, selling names like NVDA, WMT, and other high fliers.
