Sir, the Koreans are coming. They bought the dip with 3x leverage.

  • Position was big, but made \~25% in a week on a full port SOXL.
  • Figured that was good enough for me, derisk after the AMD fiasco and sit on the sidelines for another juicy dip (or miss out).
  • Rotated it back into safe boring shit (canadian banks)

  • The only actual risk to any of your investments is if someone sells (that's what causes the price to go down).
  • The problem with leverage is that people get very skittish and want to protect their investments.
  • People sell to derisk / take profits / deleverage, and that lowers the price.
  • Since there's too much leverage (people hate losing borrowed money / money on margin) - they too start to sell, causing further downward pressure on the price.
  • I have a friend who does banking consulting who's doubled his income because he's taking on 3x as many contracts.

  • Well if it continues or bounces back, I'll trade whatever direction it's moving in if that's truly what my trend radar suggests to me.
  • But the trend is what I am looking to stay in.
  • Take today in SOXL for instance, that pullback at 9:55 was a pretty big candle but the volume was unremarkable, and SPY didn't drop at all.
  • USO was dropping and when that happens, stocks usually go up.
  • So put all those little clues together , trade the probability and that pullback is where I entered.

  • Risk skyrocketed in the semi story re: AMD, so I'm thinking of derisking and letting the rest freeroll.
  • A 300k freeroll on SOXL and $1m back into boomer stuff until I see another play / game seems like an alright bet to me.
  • AMD shit the bed, but the other ones are actually doing alright it seems.
  • So on that note - I wouldn't punt a ton into it, but I still think it has a bit to run.
  • It only bottomed not even 7 days ago, and upwards momentum in the semis could definitely trigger another bull run.

Might be. Nvidia's going up as a reaction to it's ER's tho... so the bull case for semis isn't dead....

  • I'm in SOXL - I'm thinking of derisking / taking cost basis out and letting the rest ride as a freeroll.

  • I punted my entire 7 figure wealthsimple folio into SOXL.
  • It's a triple leveraged long semi ETF with a daily reset.
  • Basically - it effectively buys SOXX (the index, safe ETF) at 3x leverage.
  • At the end of every trading day - it effectively closes out to flat (no position), then reinvests 100% of your money back into SOXX at 3x leverage again.
  • The end result is exponential upsies, but ALSO exponential downsies.

  • The drop over the last month in semis was a macro manipulation... they gave us a golden buying opportunity.
  • Lotta large funds shorted their shit - knowing they'd have to sell if price went low enough.
  • They fully liquidated their $40b fund last weds (worth \~$10b at the sale time) - the bottom.
  • Shorts closed (for a profit) and it caused the massive pump we saw on thurs.
  • Lotta ER's coming up - and with hyperscalers reaching profitability on their AI investments AND expanding capacity, expect only up.

  • I lost a lot of money in April because I thought we surely wouldn't pull out right after we evacuate Americans from an entire region and send dozens of c-130s.
  • Although I guess it's different since we publicly called off the bombing but are still evacuating.
  • The pattern has become obvious and his tweets seem to be losing power, so maybe he's really gonna strike after pretending to taco.
  • I'm cash gang rn since I saw this semi dip coming once SOXL hit 290-300, although I didn't think it'd be so bad.
  • I bought SOXL at 100 last week but sold when it was up despite my original plan to hold it, I think it'll dip under 100 again before it hits and sustains 120-140.

  • SOXX was up 110% at its highs now it's 70%, so about a 40% contraction from start of year growth.
  • Meanwhile the SOXS had managed to move up a little more than 100% the past month through July 29, then as of this morning the index is only up 30% for the month showing about a 70% contraction.
  • In summary, these instruments are great when momentum is directional and moving in your direction, but any reversion completely destroys any accumulated value where the SOXL 5 year returns are now only 218% compared to 260% for the SOXX where in the end these indexes will always underperform so although timing can be a little more forgiving than if trading an option, do not mistake that timing is still a determining factor for these instruments unlike true stocks.

  • Single leg options are retarded, avoid them like the plague unless you can buy time with minimum premium (look 5-10% ITM) 2.
  • Triple leveraged ETFs in bear markets get viciously killed (See SOXL, already down 66% from peak) so keep it to day trades 3.
  • Don't commit to "time" if you're selling options.
  • Its a natural byproduct of a heavily overleveraged market with continuing and improving outflows, the earlier and better you understand that the better you will be.
What Are Your Moves Tomorrow, July 31, 2026 2 -0.5588 wallstreetbets

You manage risk via position sizing. Basically - instead of cutting losses (dont view it like that) ...

  • I currently view the matrix as incredibly lopsided for this position (low risk with massive upside potential) - so went deep into it.
  • If SOXL continues to go down - it means my risk vs reward matrix actually gets \*more\* skewed, not less.
  • I would likely continue holding until I found another position that I viewed had a better risk vs reward matrix / better opportunity.
  • At the same time - upside increases as people get interested in the asset.
  • SOXX has fallen enough & had forced sellers ($40b hedge fund liquidated) that I view risk as low now (and upside as large).
