TSM wins no matter who wins the AI race. I hold it and looking around at my other AI related holdings I'm convinced more and more I should concentrate my investments in it. As far as geopolitical risk, if China were to move it would spark WW3.

- Real world token throughput doesn't scale linearly with raw SRAM bandwidth because interconnect latency between 25,000 chips becomes the dominant constraint, not memory bandwidth per chip.
- If SRAM-heavy inference chips gain real traction, N3 wafer allocation becomes a genuine bottleneck.
- But that's a big "if" since Groq still hasn't demonstrated cost-competitive inference at scale against Nvidia's ecosystem.
- The thesis seems to point toward TSM as the picks-and-shovels play regardless of which architecture wins.

- Besides, TSM is building fabs in Arizona, Japan, and Germany.
- As those progress, that may de-risk TSM sufficiently that the risk discount fades over time.
- I think it's a bit of theater, because apparently there's a Taiwanese law requiring the newest, smallest node manufacturing to remain in Taiwan.

- But I don't think having a long time horizon means you need to take maximum concentration risk.
- NVDA, TSM, Broadcom, Micron and AMD may look like five different stocks, but many of the same forces drive them: AI spending, semiconductor demand, capex expectations and market sentiment toward AI.
- Both can be great companies in a great industry, while the stocks still disappoint if today's prices already reflect very optimistic expectations.
- At 18, you don't need to choose between boring index investing and going all-in on AI.
- You could build a diversified core and use a smaller portion of the portfolio for the AI thesis you strongly believe in.
