Peter Thiel sells $273.5 million in Palantir stock 2024-05-18T16:20:22+00:00 610 wallstreetbets
  • Lmao if you click on the article it literally says right under it that they were pre-determined to be sold since a plan in Dec 2023 and he's still very much involved with and invested into PLTR.
Palantir short thesis and an analysis of its current earnings power, multiples and enterprise value 2024-11-19T21:00:58+00:00 18 stocks
  • No one will argue that PLTR is overvalued right now but one of the main reasons it is trading at a high premium is the Rule of 40 score is at 68% in Q3.
  • I would not tell anyone to buy at the current price but I am not selling any shares even if I think it can dip back down to $45.
  • If PLTR ended today lower then the open, that would have been a bear pattern.
  • With how much work you did to write that out you could have spent some time projecting PLTR's revenue for the next 5 years and giving your estimate for margins.
  • Then discounted that back to 2024 and give a PE range it should trade at.

  • Cava is a fresh IPO that's already putting out great numbers.
  • It's basically the next Chipotle but with less competition (seriously, who else is making Mediterranean food right now?).
  • PLTR and INTC are relatively safe because they're both American companies with government contracts to build stuff.

  • Yeah I guess if they can beat every earnings by 2x for the next 20 years then they are a great investment right now.

  • PLTR good example that buy/sell signals are more complex than using indicators only: 1.
  • It had good news, becoming part of Nasdaq 100, but price did not reflect it.
  • It tried to hold VWAP in pre market but failed -> more weakness 4.
  • Time to wait for a last attempt higher after the open to get a good short entry 5.
  • It pushed but stalled right at pre market high with a doji on the 1m 9:39 before it fell apart We see this all the time - extended stocks that do not react on news anymore how you would expect.

AI Plays: NVD, AMD, GOOGL + a Couple Broader Questions 2024-09-29T04:49:12+00:00 35 stocks
  • I think people make these threads because they want to get into the next big AI plays that arent Mag 7, ETFs, and index funds early.
  • The issue with this is PLTR at $7 was regularly downvoted on this sub in these type of forward looking threads.
  • You would be called a bagholder for saying positive things about it back when it was $7.
  • The second part is lets say you went against the downvotes and negativity find something at the bottom of these threads.
  • To continue with a PLTR example a lot of people sold when it was $10-15.

  • It's an incredibly diverse group of people and they run the gamut of personalities.
  • I can't imagine they would be able to convince enough of the shareholders to sell their stake any time soon.
  • They listed themselves as a Direct Public Offering which means they really didn't need to raise funds by doing an IPO.
  • Their two founders (Thiel and Karp) are definitely a bit outside of normal in regard to how they think about things.
  • I honestly cannot imagine them agreeing to sell PLTR.
Getting on the AI bandwagon 2024-06-18T22:13:09+00:00 8 investing
  • If your investment horizon is long enough to recover from drawdowns (at which point you buy more shares), it absolutely makes sense to supplement your index fund with individual stocks.
  • With VTI as my core holding (along with some non-tech heavy ETFs for balance), I've also held positions in AAPL, AMZN, GOOGL, MSFT and NVDA for years.
  • Currently also hold smaller positions in PLTR, AVGO, MU, CRWD, and SNPS (as well as a few non-tech stocks).

What Are Your Moves Tomorrow, December 23, 2024 2024-12-22T22:04:12+00:00 6 wallstreetbets
  • I'm going to transfer $50,000 from my 2024 income into my Fidelity Accounts and into SPAXX.
  • Since I usually just inject $10,000 - $20,000 into my portfolio in one shot and then leave my investments alone for a while before doing it again, I'm going to DCA this next year.
  • I think I'm going to leave my 1000 shares in NVDA alone for a minute and use funds to build my other positions.
  • I will inject income from 2025 at random points as I normally do, but this will create a steady, consistent investment schedule with money already earned and ready for action now.
  • With the remaining $20,000 now in SPAXX, I will create automatic purchase of PLTR, RKLB, OKLO, and SPY at $385 / week.
The More Aggressive The Better 2024-12-20T05:40:55+00:00 2 investing
  • You're blinded by your own recency bias of how well mega-caps have performed.
  • My lucky picks from the past: GME, PLTR, TSLA.
  • Concentrating in single picks can definitely be rewarding if you're lucky, but it still doesn't change the fact most retail investors underperform US Treasury bills.
  • I keep my gambles (stock picking) at a maximum of 5% of my total portfolio at any given time.
  • I'd rather focus on increasing my income and contributing as much as possible to a broad stock index fund instead of stressing over choosing some stock over another one.

  • Now I just sell calls on pops (thanks for buying my 35C's all month, btw)
  • My main account is 11k shares of PLTR with a cost basis of $16, break even a bit lower, and some other small positions.
  • My daughter's custodial account is another 600 shares of PLTR with an average of like $7.
  • I bought more shares through 2022 and 2023 and sold CC's and CSPs on the ticker for the entire time.
  • I used to track my average in terms of what I bought via premium, but I stopped tracking so actively during 2022.

  • But due to their volatility, I would see if I can earn something short term as well.
  • MSFT is still in my long term investment.

  • If it gets assigned, they take that profit and then sell more cash secured puts with it.
  • If all this terminology is too far out there for you, just look up the terms individually and it will start to make sense.
  • Today it was pressing $34 and I sold calls for 35 at the end of the week.
  • If not, then I'll be on the hook to have to sell the shares at $35, no matter what price it is.
  • Theta gang is generally people who SELL options rather than buy them.

  • The 60% bonds and money market are held short term for a real estate investment I need the money for and the 40 in equities are a 10 year long, set it and forget it with a Double DCA strategy given how volatile these positions are (FXAIX is not bad in terms of volatility, it basically only crashes if the whole market goes through a 2008, or early COVID kinda deals) My invested assets are close to yours in $ amount.
  • Good job man!
  • I'm currently holding 30% in a money market, 30% in 1-3 months US Treasury bonds and 40% between FXAIX, PLTR & TSLA.

PLTR sell or hold? 2024-10-27T13:59:50+00:00 74 stocks
  • If your sentiment toward the stock hasn't changed, and you feel it will continue to ascend, there's real reason to pull the money due to an arbitrary number.
  • No need to reflect back one day (this is all theoretical) and say I lost out on 400% profit because I sold at 100%.
  • If you didn't sell at 25%, 50%, etcetera, and you still believe in the stock then I see no reason to pull the money.
  • I have full confidence PLTR will have great earnings but I'm just a person.
  • People on here constantly kick themselves for selling a stock too early.

  • I made a ton cash and I don't want to see that number get cut in half.
  • I put some gains in lunr which has performed better than PLTR since I sold and the rest in the S&P.
  • My last 1100 shares of PLTR will be held for the next ten years or until something changes.

  • Never regret taking profits.
  • I sold more than 40 PLTR contracts today and made about $12K, Could I have made more down the line, maybe Monday, Tuesday?
  • It is better to regret selling too early... than not selling for greed and losing all your profits.
