Largest holdings in order are JEPI, O, ARCC, SCHD, and SGOV (alternative savings) with a few smaller investments here and there for good measure.
For me that is treasuries and SGOV is the best short term treasury ETF.
No state income tax and if you also use the free $1k margin to buy SGOV, you collect interest on the margin as well.

Holy fucking shit I'm so fucking sick of losing money I'm about ready to full port all my ports to fucking SGOV.
I'm at zero cash in my taxable account anyway: loaded up on SGOV months ago.
I went to ground 3 weeks ago and slammed 80% of my shit into SGOV just in case the orange one throws a tantrum.

Better choice than VOO for 5-7 year horizon?
No risk: SGOV (3.6% annually, ties inflation). Low risk: VT (is a bet on the world economy, which I personally wouldn't participate in). Medium risk: SPYM/VOO (bet on America). High risk: SPMO, QQQM (bet on profitability of AI/tech sector). Crazy risk: QLD, SPUU (huge short term bet on tech/America). Genuinely do not do this: TQQQ, SPXL (yoloing everything and you would lose it all in a crash).

The stock market will prob crash now because I bought nearly 1million usd worth of VOO with my inheritance
If I woulda kept it in SGOV then VOO woulda ripped up another 20-30% higher over the next 12 months so it's damn if you do and damn if you don't.

I don't think SGOV is a bad position unless you are 100% all in. … But we all have to take risks that we are comfortable with in life.
Ghayest Position Right now
Welcome to the VIP SGOV Lounge where we watch others gamble & lose their life savings. Feel free to visit the Short Term Treasury buffet.

What are you doing with your investments leading into midterms?
I went to ground 3 weeks ago and slammed 80% of my shit into SGOV just in case the orange one throws a tantrum. So far I'm not regretting my decision and we'll see if the tantrum materializes.

Big Tech will bleed while Boomer dividend stocks inherit the AI revolution
I know I'm a small fish but I have about $753,000 mostly in dividend stocks and I make enough that if they keep being stable enough to pay dividends I should be set to relax and work part time in about 4-5 years. … Largest holdings in order are JEPI, O, ARCC, SCHD, and SGOV (alternative savings) with a few smaller investments here and there for good measure.
Where are you putting your rainy day funds?
on a 10,000 savings amount that would be $320 per year in interest. … So net net, you end up coming out ahead with SGOV ~$86.
If you are looking for a cash equivalent cushion, go with money market or SGOV. … In the long term it will beat SGOV for sure, with both NAV and distribution growth.
rainy day funds are put in a safe investment. For me that is treasuries and SGOV is the best short term treasury ETF. Key benefit: No state tax on most of the ETF (in 2025 it was 95%). And it is liquid during market hours, so you can take out the money easily, unlike actual treasuries.

What HYSA do you recommend?
As a big added bonus, it's not liable to state income tax like HYSA's are (assuming you're in a state with income tax). … My wife and I maintain a small $5k liquid cash pool in our Amex HYSA, and then keep the entirety of our savings/emergency fund in SGOV.
