People who understand investing well, is it true many of them don't invest in index funds like SP500 but they study each specific stocks and invest in tham to maximize ROI?

If you're talking active day traders I'm sure you're right I believe buy-and-hold consistently outperforms them though. While I can beleive most retail B&H investors do underperform I find it hard to beleive that group is anywhere near the 97% underperformance rate of day trading though And what determines that anyway? For example 40% of my portfolio is individual stocks while 60% is funds. But some of those funds are leveraged Am I a day trader? Am I an index investor? I outperform the S&P most years but that isn't a function of much besides SPXL and a few heavy hitting individual companies like GOOG and AMZN.

- Second round, you add a highly ranked player, like GOOG, NVDA, AMZN-- take your pick, but you still want something that you know will get you fantasy points (or in this analogy, growth)
- Maybe add some RKLB or whatever you think is going to go to the moon (literally or figuratively,) take some chances, but spread your bets.
- Think about it more in terms of portfolio construction at first, and then as you gradually get more money to add to the portfolio, you can put a few dollars into each position, and more heavily weight the safer positions or things that have dropped recently.
- Fantasy and investing both involve a lot of luck, but the main goal of both of them is to score / profit as much as you can, while managing risk.
- You build the core, and then you take small bets on higher growth opportunities.
