  • I suspect there are many buyers of the ADR today who don't quite understand this company is already public and have an established valuation.
  • They think they're getting in on the ground floor of an issue that is becoming publicly available for the first time and valuation is being discovered and it could potentially boom.
  • My understanding is in Taiwan, TSMC is viewed as a natural treasure and pride of the country.
  • As such the locals all want to own a piece, and perhaps foreign investment is more difficult so with more limited options they flock to 2330 and bid it up.
  • Also, since the markets in Asia have no time overlap with the US there is no natural arbitrage mechanism to close the gap.

  • I think both MU and SKHY are good, but high risk buys for the next \~1 year and I would not be surprised to see the shares rise 50-100%.
  • This is based on my experience covering commodity stocks that manage to lock in take or pay agreements, they trade at astronomical premiums because they bow out of the cyclical pricing.
  • Although AI capex is, of course, expected to grow y/y, it's essentially flat from exit levels this year.
  • This actually is not screamingly cheap for a cyclical stock, it's not uncommon for such names to trade at trough valuation as the market "looks through" peak pricing.
  • If they secure revenue with long term contracts, trading at such a low multiple will no longer make sense.

  • If you want those two, DRAM has been a much better play as the other 50% of the ETF has performed about as well as Samsung/SK, whereas EWY and other Korean ETfs have been badly weighed down by the rest of the Korean stocks.
  • At the same time, Korea should be a good longterm play, especially given the directed capex of the two big companies that is partly aimed at boosting the infrastructure of the entire country.
