What Reddit is saying
No more Block buster, No more Radio shack, No more Circuit city, no more malls.NKE isn't a buy til they reduce that dividend.I have quadrupled down on my beaten up NKE position.A lot of value investors overly rely on P/E and miss the half about "wonderful businesses" when quoting Buffet..The fact you're lumping together MCD, NKE, and NFLX tells me you probably are just enjoying dunking on people investing in stocks in downtrends more than wanting to make a point..There is a lot of good conversation related to this subject..I criticize people in the VI sub all the time for outright dismissing using alternative metrics and DCAing down from forever with 30% of their portfolio in one stock..This post though ain't it.

Am I regard enough or will it print ?
I think this will print. NKE is super beaten down... not saying the famous last words it can't go lower cus it can... but North American wholesale has improved, inventory/discounting is getting healthier, and Nike has said gross margins should begin improving. If earnings confirm those trends...especially alongside stabilization in China (but prob won't say much here) the market could start pricing in an earnings recovery rather than continued deterioration. I got 3 $40 leaps expo March and 10 $40 lottos expo 10/2 myself.

- I'm a casual fan of some of their most popular legacy sneaker models (as in I typically own a few pairs at at time, not a few hundred).
- I can tell you these shoe models are not instantly selling out like they used to, and getting heavily discounted either at retailers or after stocking at the NKE outlets.
- The stock can go either direction on earnings due to short term leverage such as options market.
- But the obvious impact there is capped top line growth - or really more likely declining.
- It'll be at least a year before this company can show many meaningful financial performance improvements.

Should Analysts be allowed to continue to post expectations when their record is this bad?
I don't know if I agree on the optimistic statement. At least in theory and in this particular examp…
- A buy rating should indicate that they expect a stock to outperform the market.
- But I guess it could be as simple as some analysts having a bear mindset and some having a bull mindset, and if you aggregated all analyst ratings, it would average out to net neutral in respect to the market.
- Opposing viewpoints on direct competitors, with ratings that conflict with almost any other analyst's opinion on NKE, just seems like paid promotion.
- The fact that these opinions get posted as an entire company's stance rather than an individual analyst's stance (I.e "Morgan Stanley has upgraded their opinion to Buy") is another head scratcher.
- If it isn't obvious, my opinion directly conflicts with this analyst's.

- You and many others, investing in things in a downtrend is a bad idea.
- For those obsessively watching the market using TA and maybe even your own AI agents, you can often try to stay away from something until a more obvious trend reversal.
- On the other hand, VI investors were the ones buying Microsoft at $350 and GOOGL at $240 hand over fist and got similar profits you got on much higher risk growth stocks, except they got them on much stronger businesses.
- No VI investor worth their salt was at any point recommending NKE that I saw.
- But every stock that seems cheap gets posted on VI and a lot of bots are then used to pretend there is more interest than there often is.
