Bullish
I am about 10 years from retiring and do hold some cash equivalents in short term treasuries as well as some high quality dividend funds like SCHD and FDVV, both doing amazing this year.
SCHD up 27% YTD lmao.
I'm keeping it basic though not as basic as pure VT and chill because I like SCHD and SPYI and I feel like SCHD's dividend growth and SPYI's monthly income for today's bills complement VT well.
Bearish
SCHD seems to mirror the losses of the s&p in 2020 and it recovered slower than RSP.

Is a ETF like SCHD a good candidate in current volatile economic environment?
Diversification is never a bad idea. With the VOO so skewed towards high tech growth I think SCHD is a good balance in this environment.

SPMO was a huge mistake for me
It will get pummeled more than something like VOO or VTI that has some balance elsewhere, even though they are weighted extremely heavy in tech as well, but would be held up by their other holdings that are winning. … I am about 10 years from retiring and do hold some cash equivalents in short term treasuries as well as some high quality dividend funds like SCHD and FDVV, both doing amazing this year.
I also hold SCHD and FSMDX in my Roth and they both have been great this year. … I could sell some shares of that for SPMO but I already think 45% of my Roth in SPMO is probably too much.
Musk reports that SpaceX and Tesla are exploring a merger
SCHD seems to mirror the losses of the s&p in 2020 and it recovered slower than RSP. It didn't exist in 2000 or 2008. It shined in 2022 with a valuation-driven decline when compared to VOO. I'm not sure how it would fare in an AI collapse. It might do ok since only a couple chipmakers are part of their mix.
What Would Be the Stock and ETF Most Opposite The Wallstreet Bets Community?
actually been starting to bag some TEQT lately. moms on TD and wanted to stay there and it was commission free so said "why not". like how SCHD covers the non tech legacy companies really well.

What's your biggest position right now?
VOO- S and P heavy, VT for international exposure. SCHD for dividend income and AI bubble safe. I have the realization of yes I know there's overlap. VTI plus VXUS isn't a bad deal either. US heavy fund + international fund.
I will never forgive myself for this
Private brokerage is a mix of VT, SCHD, and SPYI. … I'm keeping it basic though not as basic as pure VT and chill because I like SCHD and SPYI and I feel like SCHD's dividend growth and SPYI's monthly income for today's bills complement VT well.

SCHD will take a small hit soon, overall better positioned as a boomer stock than a lot of other AI-adjacent banks. Low chance of folding. Finance sector is gonna be musical chairs, a merger is definitely going to happen.

Went from 250k at peak to 42k trough
Yeah, like it could be a good idea to pick 10 great companies in the SP 500 and also pick 5 best midcap companies with great growths and balance sheets all cushioned by SCHD. That's an ETF.
When to switch from growth to income? Assuming a growth rate went close to retirement
Yeah, I'm 56 and slowing down my high growth, traditional Ira through transitioning to SCHD for dividends and then VGIT for bonds whatever individual stocks I have left will be converted to my Roth and eventually my SCHD as well as my SCHY will be converted last to my Roth, leaving only my VGIT in my traditional Ira…

we all gotta get rich and SCHD before that.

then take 10-20% and go for beta and outsized gains. … the biggest determining factor in growing wealth is spending less than you bring and put those dollars to work buying assets.
